Another typical stinking hot day in… Hue

Oh hey hi guys, me again. Mama and Papa Bear are you there? This entry will not be as good as the last one but there we go. Just thought I could squeeze a quick update in as have a few mins. Have done most of my hotel bookings for the trip, accounts are in hand and the guys are off exploring on the DMZ tour today.
Vietnam propaganda
Propaganda is still alive and well in Vietnam
Hue sits on the banks of the Perfume river and so it was suggested that we sort a sunset meal on one of the not so traditional dragon boats. Had a chat with the delightful Thanh here in our hotel and a menu was rustled up and a very nice meal had, even if we did not get a sunset but a downpour. Little prayer “boats” with candle passengers were let go and wishes made, so a top night.

Saw the guys off this morning, paid up and arranged what I hope is a slightly larger bus for the trip to Hoi An tomorrow then nipped into the Citadel. What a great surprise it turned out to be. Relaxed, verdant greenery and a real sense of history. Set on the banks of the river and with a great park next to it, I found it a real pleasure to stroll around the old defences and just let my mind wander off into the imagined past. Hue is, well was the Royal seat for decades. On the way there passed loads of little stalls selling birds and fish, which I hope are to be taken home as pets and not as the main course...just never too sure in some of these places, thought re the French and frogs leg eating....did they get the idea from the colonial days out here?

Right well that is it, save a quick mention for Ben Buckley, Calypsoite and emerging comedian, I have signed photos, $5 a pop if you fancy, you heard the name here first. We will put a link to some of his comedy on this blog so you can check it out.  Oh and he has a gig in KL so we are all going to go along and have a great laugh with him, rather than at him as we do now...na only kidding. Yep maybe I should stick to what I do best, whatever that is and leave the comedy to Ben.

Have fun out there and will drop next update when can, DMZ tour report and some photos maybe of the next hotel which sounds brilliant, pool, free cocktails...dare I let my natural defensive negativity slip and actually big a place up? Laters CJ
